A Very Well Mannered Book Launch
Ita Buttrose AO OBE is likely Australia’s most widely known and recognised journalist and business woman having now written or co-written some ten books during her career that has spanned publishing and television. Ita is also a ‘lady’ so it comes as no surprise that her latest literary work would delve into the seemingly lost practice of etiquette.
A Guide to Australian Etiquette is a ‘tour de force’ of what to do, but, primarily what not to do in public. It takes a swipe at today’s casualness where so many appear to have lost the simple term ‘thank you’ from their vocabulary. Not much of society’s bogan behaviour escapes her critical eye. To facilitate ‘getting the message’ out to the younger generation this doyenne of Australian publishing shot a ‘tongue in cheek’ ’rap’ style video to beat home her ideals in today’s world.
The Ariel Bookshop in Paddington, as the launch pad for Ita’s ’A Guide to Australian Etiquette’, had the immaculately attired Ms Buttrose fielding a Q and A session before settling down to sign her book for fans.
Ita Buttrose ’A Guide to Australian Etiquette’ is published by Penguin Books.
