Adam Nudelman ’38 Weeks to Settlement’ exhibition opening night at Art Equity Gallery Sydney photography and story: MiSociety
Sydney 17 November 2011
Art Equity Gallery Sydney, Adam Nudelman and The Balvenie – a night of shared traditional artistic values and rarities.
Adam Nudelman exhibition ’38 Weeks to Settlement’ at Sydney’s Art Equity Gallery opened to an excited buzz and with a couple of ‘rarities’ particularly noted by MiSociety.
Art exhibitions rarely have the ‘sold out’ shingle posted prior to the opening night but that was the case on this occasion with Adam Nudelman’s latest exhibition ’38 Weeks to Settlement’. Nevertheless the opening night still drew a large crowd eager to view his paintings.
Ralph Hobbs, Art Director at Art Equity Gallery, introduced Adam Nudelman to guests as an artist rapidly maturing with his imagery and subject matter and a man who, he believes, is destined to become of the really great Australian painters of the next ten years.
Ralph referred to the historical ‘artistic quest’ for ‘arcadia’ (generally interpreted as a ‘region of simplicity and untouched quiet – a sort of utopia) that has pervaded colonial and European cultures for centuries. Hobbs went on to say “Adam’s contemporary Australian work was continuing that tradition and was a powerful homage to the great traditions of landscape painting in all its profound romantic glory”.
Ralph also explained that Adam uses his immense technical skill to create his pictures over many months whilst developing his signature haunting glow from his painting of South Australian landscapes, although, his work in reality, is not place specific.
Adam Nudelman on this triumphant night for the Melbourne based artist, was clearly quite emotional as he proudly stood with his wife Elisa and their gorgeous baby son, Noah.
The Balvenie Scotch Whisky bar was a hot spot with guests all eager to taste the traditionally crafted single malt 12 and 15yr aged whisky. As an extra bonus for the art lovers here, The Balvenie representative released into the Adam Nudelman ‘landscapes’ filled room one of their rarer animals – their 21yr aged ‘The Balvenie’ that served to add to the conviviality of a hugely successful evening.
‘The Balvenie’ was a supporter of the Adam Nudelman art exhibition opening night as part of their popular Sydney art series of which MiSociety is proud to be associated.
Adam Nudelman’s ‘38 Weeks to Settlement’ exhibition continues at Art Equity Gallery until 2 December 2011.
