Aquaviva’s could be Sydney’s delicious answer to Fernandes Hideaway
Aquaviva’s Restaurant and Bar was packed on all levels for their huge opening bash with guests needing the ‘family tree’ map to find their way around the many spaces downstairs, upstairs, inside and out.
Aquaviva’s ‘Parlour’ (the main bar area) staged the talented bluesy boys from ‘Blind Valley’ while out in ‘Succulent City’ (downstairs courtyard) piano accordion sounds by ‘Jo’ permeated. Meanwhile upstairs in ‘Cassia’s Lounge’ cocktails a plenty were being concocted by Josh the barman to be consumed on the spot, or cradled out to the ‘Private
Aquaviva’s is a real ‘Fernandes’ family affair and with it’s potpourri of dining and bar spaces it could almost be a latter day Fernandes Hideaway complete with small birds, violins and unicycles. MiSociety loved the vibe and vivre le difference
Aquaviva’s tasting cuisine offered this night was innovative, imaginative and deliciously different being a mix of colonial Portuguese and modern Australian. Flavours were fresh, tantalising and not too complicated while melding together ingredients not often married.
