ASTRA Awards 2011 pulls a flood of celebrities
Sydney celebrities and subscription television stars were out en-force on the red carpet for the 2011 ASTRA Awards, all somehow managing to stay dry and preened to perfection during Sydney’s biblical proportions, rain onslaught.
Presenters Lee Furlong, Tara Moss, Charlotte Dawson, Helen Dalley, Rove McManus, Erin McNaught, Justine Clarke, Claudia Karvan and Laura Dundovic amongst the plethora of others braved the conditions to pose for the squad of snaparazzi during the 90 minute long parade. We wonder though if there will come a time when ‘red carpeters’ will actually carry signs depicting whose designs they are wearing on the night.
Sydney Wharf Theatre’s foyer was at bursting point for the pre-drinks before the excited crowd filed into the theatre itself for the ASTRAs that ran somewhat late due to the weather conditions that had created havoc on the roads.
The 9th Annual ASTRA Awards were well tailored and ran to cue with the Lifestyle Channel taking out the top prize for the most favoured subscription television station. Award winners were rapidly ushered from the stage to a packed media room for yet more photographs and interviews with their obvious pride bubbling forth. Several winners even lingered on to chat, have some fun and share a drink with the media.
The ASTRA after party was huge with one area for relaxing and chatting another for those eager to hit the dance floor and a third for smoozing and eating Did we mention food? There was not chance of going hungry here with food waiters struggling through the throng while a three tiered smorgasbord offered everything from speciality cheeses to candy store treats.
The ASTRAs for 2011 was a mammoth exercise exacerbated by last minute measures to cope with the weather onslaught and MiSociety (along with other attending media) was super impressed by the unflappable professionalism of the organising PR company team at 6dc.
