Plus a startling NEWS FLASH from Nicole!
Dozens of fans flocked to Sydney’s MCA at Circular Quay when they heard a clutch of home-grown Hollywood stars were giving a press conference. Then thousands turned up for the glittering world premier of ‘Australia’, the outback epic from director Baz Luhrmann and his most ambitious project to date.
It was the largest red carpet ever seen in Sydney and with part of George Street, Sydney blocked off. It was probably the biggest movie event to ever happen in this city. Misociety’s straw poll of the many journalists who attended a preview of the romantic action adventure, set between 1939 and 1941 resulted in a conclusive agreement that Luhrmann has a huge hit on his hands that should wow American and European audiences.
NEWS FLASH! A startling reply to a question posed to one of the world’s major movie stars, Nicole Kidman, at the press conference – was that ‘Australia’ could well be her last film as she settles into full-time motherhood in Nashville with hubby, country music star Keith Urban.
Following the film premiere a massive throng of ‘first nighters’ made their way to the huge after party at the Ivy – certainly the hottest ticket this town has seen.
