‘Buddy’ The Musical Sydney Premier
‘Oh Boy’ it’s not ‘Everyday’ that we can ‘Rave On’ about Buddy Holly in Australia even though the show ‘Buddy’ has been playing in London for 18 years. And ‘That’ll be the Day’ when Buddy’s music will fail to excite an audience and that includes the ‘black spectacled’ one at the Lyric Theatre for the Opening Night of ‘Buddy’ – The Musical.
Marking the 50th anniversary of Buddy’s untimely death, the audience rose to their feet to ‘Rip it Up’ and pay tribute to the singer and musician who’s life and career was cut so tragically short. This is a ‘Good Times’ show with all the energy of the real Buddy shining through the show’s look alike leading man Scott Cameron. Scott was born on the day that Buddy Holly was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and is the same age Buddy was when he died in a plane smash along with Richie Valens and J.P.’The Big Bopper’ Richardson.
And ‘If You Knew Peggy Sue’ you could have caught up with her at last night’s performance (yep she was there -see photo).
