ZHANG HUAN: SYDNEY BUDDHA
Created with 20 tonnes of incense ash and standing at over five metres tall, Sydney Buddha is a meditation on the brevity of life and the cycles of renewal and destruction.

Shooting still images in Times Square, New York City, photographer Greg Barrett also recorded a short burst of video. Checking the footage later, he realised he’d captured not only a surging slice of life in the Big Apple’s centre, but someone in a SpongeBob SquarePants costume trying to attract the attention and generosity of passers-by for a solitary 45 minutes.
