Helpmann Awards 2015 Nominees and Awards Night Announcements

Australia’s star performers in the arts sector  including Caroline O’Connor, Simon Gleeson, Wesley Enoch, Annette Downs, Michael Griffiths, and Suzie Mather announce the nominees for the 2015 Helpmann Awards.

  • Helpmann Awards 2015 Announcements –  Monday 27 July at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre on the set of Cameron Mackintosh’s acclaimed new production of Les Misérables.

The winners of the 2015 Helpmann Awards, including two lifetime achievement awards – JC Williamson Award® and Sue Nattrass Award™

The 2015 Helpmann Awards will be hosted by previous Helpmann Awards winner, Todd McKenney and feature performances by Les Misérables, Once, Australia Piano Quartet, and Cosentino – The Grand Illusionist.

The 2015 Helpmann Awards will be broadcast live on Foxtel Arts and simulcast free on www.foxtelarts.com.au. Tickets for the 15th annual Helpmann Awards are available now directly from Ticketmaster.

The Helpmann Awards are proudly supported by the New South Wales Government, through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.

The Helpmann Awards also incorporates the Brian Stacey Award for Emerging Australian Conductors which has this year been awarded to Jessica Gethin. She will receive a $10,000 prize as winner of the award.

Sydney’s Newest Con Artists Deliver Uproariosly Clever Musical Comedy
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels originated from the film titled ‘Bedtime Story’ starring David Niven, Marlon Brandon and Shirley Jones in 1964.  The movie was remade as ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’ in 1988 starring that time around Michael Cane, Steve Martin and Glenne Headly.  Dirty Rotten Scoundrels as ‘The Musical’ premiered in Sydney on 24 October 2013 faving first run on Broadway back in 2005.   For the dozen or so people who may have never seen ‘Scoundrels’ in any form the story centres on a couple of opportunists who make their living from separating wealthy ladies from their cash.  Lawrence has made a fortune while Freddy is keen to be his ‘apprentice’.  When the Toothpaste Queen, Christine Colgate, arrives in their South of France domain the boys compete for a $50,000 booty.
