Fashion and the circus roll up for a stage extravaganza
Catwalk Circus, held at The Melbourne Town Hall, exploded into a spectacular fashion spectacle that I, Stephanie Ryan-Smith, had the distinction of hosting. So, as both the M.C. of Catwalk Circus and an editorial contributor to MiSociety I am thrilled to be able to bring to you my insider, eye witness report straight from the catwalk.
Oscar Calvo of OC Communications and Events was the creator of Catwalk Circus and ‘wow’ what an extravaganza of all things creative it was.
From the dress rehearsals onward I just knew it was going to be an incredible show. On the catwalk, daring avant-garde and cutting edge men’s and women’s fashions were showcased by some of Australia and New Zealand’s most talented up and coming fashion designers. Cutting edge fashion paraded by divine models from Scene Models and Giant Management.
Look out for the names of A. Concept by Anthony Capon, Oscar Calvo (yes, Oscar is also a very talented men’s fashion designer), Annah Stretton, Et Al, Made In Donald, Tovah, Eva Q Design, Neo Dia, Stesha Ho, Pamela Usanto, Preap & Coutts, Metal Couture, Alexandra Harper and Patricia Keech. We will certainly all be seeing more of this talented bunch of fashion, millenary and accessory designers in the future.
This was no ordinary fashion show! The audience was also treated to jaw-dropping and awe inspiring performances by Circa Nica, Patrick Studios and Pole Divas who danced, twirled and hooped for the appreciative crowd.
The creative crew from Matrix and Gorgeous Cosmetics did a marvellous job of everyone’s hair and makeup with the models looking even more super-natural in their uber dynamic high heels supplied by Siren Shoes.
Becky and Gavin of Neo Dia dressed me for the occasion – thank you Becky and Gavin I just loved this dress and the colour was perfect.
The audience members were totally spoiled on arrival by receiving Chambord and Finlandia cocktails, gourmet canapes, and decadent gift bags containing an abundance of goodies from the sponsors. Major partners and sponsors included Fashion TV, Aquila, Polaroid, Chadstone The Fashion Capital, Fashion Trend Magazine, Lindt Chocolate, Fashion Journal, Nova FM and many more.
Catwalk Circus is proudly affiliated with The AIDS Trust of Australia. Audience members snapped up raffle tickets to win awesome prizes including signed framed photographs of Vanessa Amorosi and Kate Ceberano.
The night kicked on at the Carlton Hotel where the official Catwalk Circus after party took place.
