The 2012 Festival includes more than 60 events including markets, dragon boat races, temple tours, a film festival, art exhibitions, kids’ events, cultural and historical tours, calligraphy demonstrations, opera and banquets. Lots of things to do for the kids.

Chinese New Year Markets
20 – 22 January at Belmore Park, near Central Station – free
The Festival kicks off with the annual Chinese New Year Markets at Belmore Park on Friday at 4pm, with arts and crafts by the Chinese Youth League, and games and activities to entertain kids of all ages. Bring the family to enjoy spectacular lion and dragon dances, feast on Asian delicacies from more than 20 food stalls and settle in for plenty of action on the stage each day.
Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan in south-western China, is Sydney’s partner city for next year’s festival, which promises to be the biggest and best yet.Share
