Chocoholics Invade the Hunter Valley
Chocolate lovers flocked to the beautiful Hunter Valley Gardens, in the Hunter Valley, to immerse themselves in everything chocolate for the weekend. There were masterclasses (don’t reckon you have to be a master to eat chocolate!), cooking demos, wine and chocolate pairing, chocky walks and talks and the Callebaut Chocolate Dessert Competition.
The chocolate marquee was, well ..‘chockers’ with chocoholics. An amazing display of iced cakes depicting amongst them a handbag and a barbeque were of the edible kind while another stall had what looked to be cakes, but were, in fact, ‘soap’.
Stunning weather graced the weekend and the kids all had huge fun although there may have been a few cases of ‘sugar overload’ for the mums and dads to contend with later in the days.
Ed Halmagyi, known as ‘Fast Eddy’, the resident Chef on Better Homes and Gardens commentated while Dean Gibson built a chocolate sculpture. No mean feat for Dean as the warm sun threatened to disassemble his amazing creation.
The Hunter Valley Gardens are stunning and we will need to return to make our way around all of them ..hmm… picnic with the ducks, by the lake, under the trees … bliss.
MiSociety had a terrific weekend at the Chocolate Festival staying at the famous Harrigans Irish Pub and Accommodation which is just 500 metres from the Gardens. Harringans was a great choice and you can read more on that shortly.
