Chris Botti and Guests blasts the highest possible note at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival for 2011
Chris Botti, trumpeter extraordinaire, along with his band, guest violinist Caroline Campbell and vocalist Lisa Fischer blew the roof off the Melbourne Recital Hall at the first of the Chris Botti and Guests concerts – a highlight of the 2011 Melbourne International Jazz Festival.
Chris Botti could likely hold the Guinness world record for holding a single note on a trumpet but it’s his virtuoso trumpeting skills that left us spellbound and the audience begging for more.
The Chris Botti band members made up of 10 times Grammy nominated Billy Childs (piano), Mark Whitfield (guitar), Carlitos Del Fuerto (base), William Kilson (drums) and Andrew Ezrin (keyboards) are all world class artists in their own right. ..

Caroline Campbell is a visually stunning lady but the minute she placed bow to string on her violin we were swept up into the passionate delivery of her music. Seems Caroline comes from a multi talented family with her ‘surgeon’ dad Bruce Campbell, being invited on stage to take his turn on the drums.
Lisa Fischer, who amongst her other credits, can lay claim to having sung with The Rolling Stones for many years. Wow, Fischer just captivated us. Her vocal range is astounding – extending from the high notes all the way up into the whistle register then plunging down into male tenor territory. Fischer, during her amazing rendition of Bocelli’s ‘Italia’, had her singing this classic in the same key as the iconic Italian vocalist.
To experience all this undeniable amazing talent and the trumpet master Chis Botti himself all on the one stage was a concert that will long live in our memories.
