Chanel cruises from Venice to Balmoral Beach, Sydney
Coco Chanel’s painted etherial image of her sitting beside Venice’s Lido beach gazed out over Sydney’s Balmoral Beach for the launch of Chanel’s 2010 Cruise Collection.
Ironically a ‘Venetian haze’ hung low over the Balmoral waters as models with 1920′s hairstyles and accentuated dark eyes, pouted their way down a very long catwalk. Guests were absorbed into both the fashions and the atmosphere while seated in beachy style slatted wooden chairs outside the Bathers Pavillion.
Chanel and Sydney’s amazing harbour successfully combined to put on a show that was a worthy successor to the signature launch of this collection held in Venice in May 2009.
In a return to the elegance of eras past the Chanel Cruise 2010 collection is a stunner. After a great night MiSociety was relieved to find Gieves (pronounced Jeeves) Valet Parking waiting with pre-called taxis – excellent.
