After opening its first Australian venture in Sydney last year, legendary Ibiza beach club Café del Mar will branch out further with a Melbourne venue in 2014.
The Music Network has reported Australian Café del Mar founder Michael Vale will open a 500 capacity ‘sunset bar’, featuring multiple bars and a café over three levels, in the popular inner-Melbourne bayside suburb of St Kilda later this year.
The new venue will also reportedly include an open air rooftop patio and digital screens showing Ibiza sunsets in winter months.
Speaking with The Music Network, Vale said “Café del Mar in Sydney is what I call an urban model for a upbeat corporate market.
“Café del Mar in Melbourne will clearly be a beach club, a far more casual atmosphere and far more true to the Café del Mar in Ibiza.”
Vale said he planned to launch the new venue with a ‘renowned DJ’ from Ibiza, and eventually produce Melbourne’s own series of Café del Mar CDs, emulating the iconic brand’s original compilations.
