Rene Redzepi, the World’s Greatest Chef, Craves Sydney
CRAVE, the Sydney International Food Festival, launched in Sydney at Astral Restaurant, Star City with a very special guest of honour. Rene Redzepi is the chef and owner of what is the world’s best restaurant. Noma, in Copenhagen, Denmark won the S.Pellegrino World’s Best Restaurant 2010 Award.
Rene Redzepi is a charming and most unassuming man to chat with holding none of the superfluous affectations of some of Sydney’s lesser foodie mortals. One of Rene’s gastronomical creations was used as the idea behind one of the food offerings at the launch party. At first glance most here were reticent to pluck the dwarf vegies from their flowerpot home as they appeared to still be growing in ’potting mix’. The ‘potting mix’ turned out to be a cream cheese concoction covered in a brown crumble.
Joanna Saville, the Crave Festival Director, formally launched the month long food celebration for October reminding guests that there were some 600 food and dining events all over Sydney and Regional NSW for the festival this year in what is only it’s second year.
