So, cloth nappies versus disposables? How do they both pan out?
- Thursday 1 December 2011 – 6.30-8.30pm
Parents of young children won’t want to miss a special free workshop hosted by Manly Council which aims to dispel common myths about cloth versus disposable nappies.
Titled ‘Nappies: Getting the Right Fit’, the workshop will take place at Manly Town Hall, 1 Belgrave Street (opposite Manly Ferry Wharf).
The key objectives of the workshop are:
- To assist parents to make a more sustainable choice in caring for their babies toiletry needs and;
- To assist parents in creating a suitable sustainable nappy system.
The ‘Nappies: Getting the Right Fit’ workshop will compare disposable nappies versus modern cloth nappies in terms of their environmental impact, cost, time outlay and health issues, as well as explaining the different types of cloth nappies available.
Workshop participants can inspect a substantial collection of cloth nappy samples (Australian owned and operated only), and learn what a ‘cloth nappy system’ may consist of, developing their own to suit their particular family’s needs!
Each participant is given a kit with all the information to take home and contact details for any further expert guidance that may be required.
The cost of disposables is typically much higher than for cloth, even when the energy and water used in washing and drying cloth is taken into account.
The new varieties of reusable nappies and even a good traditional flat nappy system can be user friendly.
Offered free of charge, bookings are essential. Telephone Manly Council during business hours on 9976 1500.
The ‘Nappies: Getting the Right Fit’ workshop is being presented as part of Manly Council’s popular ‘Green Up Your Life! Sustainable Living Program’.
