Egyptian Treasures from the Kunst Historisches Museum in Vienna to Australian Museum, Sydney Opening Night

The Australian Museum in Sydney was looking absolutely marvelous for the opening night of their spectacular new exhibition ‘Egyptian Treasures’. This exhibition will prove to be very popular for
those of us that are fascinated with the art of the Egyptian Pharaohs, mummies and objects.
NSW Premier Nathan Rees may not have had a lot to smile about lately but he did manage a grin or two (and a little joke) as he opened ‘Egyptian Treasures’ this night. The exhibition is on loan to the Australian Museum from the Kunst Historisches Museum, Vienna with Mag. Michaela Hutter, Egyptian and Near Eastern Collection Curator, travelling to Sydney to oversee the installation of this major exhibition.
Sadly the night also marked the announcement of the looming end of the tenure of Brian Sherman as President of the Australian Museum Trust. Brian was visibly moved during his speech knowing that his time as President was coming to an end - Brian will be very sorely missed in this position.
