Belgium Beer Café ‘Epoque’ brews up a a great 10th birthday bash
What is warm, friendly the first of its kind in Australia and ten years old? To celebrate this auspicious occasion Epoque did what Epoque does best – they threw a good time, old fashioned, fun party in the tradition of a ‘beer hall’.
Epoque was once MiSociety’s ‘local’ so it was great to catch up with Olivier Massart again who is the owner/manager of this Cammeray institution and Serge Wittock, Trade Commissioner, Consulate of Belgium, who is always a welcome guest at any good party with his broad grin and excellent memory for faces.
It was reassuring to see that not much had changed and that this timber paneled, warm and friendly beer cafe still holds with the same traditions from which it was born. Golden beers from all over the world flowed, the band played, people sang, danced and the night took on the feel of being a house party where everyone knew everyone.
Epoque is famous for their signature Belgium style ‘mussels and chips’ and their hearty meals and their tenth birthday saw platters laden with a selection of delicious goodies that could definitely not just be described as ‘nibbles’.
Judging from the enthusiastic crowd of primarily ‘regulars’ and friends we think we can look forward to another ten years of ‘Epoque’ the Belgium Beer Café in Cammeray. Epoque Belgium Beer Cafe
