January 26, 2012

* SYDNEY

Sit back and relax at Festival of the Voice – a fantastic FREE festival in the laneways of The Rocks to celebrate Australia Day.

  • 26 January 2012 – 11.30am – 8.30pm

Presented by Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, Festival of the Voice will be one of the biggest free events of the year! More than 100,000 people are expected to attend this epic celebration of music that brings together great singers and songwriters from all corners of the country.

Enjoy a fantastic day of live music, markets, chill-out zones, great food, karaoke, kid’s entertainment, pop-up shops and surprising roaming acts – all in the beautiful harbourside location of The Rocks.

Weave your way around three open-air stages as some of Australia’s finest musicians bring pop, rock, acoustic folk, funk, soul, reggae, blues, roots and Indigenous music to life in a unique celebration of the voice.

Melbourne urban-roots outfit Blue King Brown will headline the festival bringing their world-renowned power-packed live show to The Rocks.

Festival of the Voice will also feature the unique talent of Indigenous performers Archie Roach and Busby Marou, the indie-pop tunes of Ernest Ellis, the jazzed-up notes of The Harry James Angus Band (from Cat Empire), the sublime sounds of Emma Louise, the endearing melodies of Hey Big Aki, the country sounds of Boy Outside, the quirky pop of the Rescue Ships, the kooky tunes of Mikelangelo and the Tin Star with Saint Claire, as well as Ali Hughes, Steve Smyth and more.

Wander through The Rocks and discover beautiful choirs in the laneways and quirky roaming performers. Dance in the streets to the wheelie bin sound systems (portable mini-discos playing all-Australian music) rock-out at the karaoke stage, then put your feet up at the chill-out zone at First Fleet Park.

You’ll find all your favourite stalls at The Rocks Markets in Playfair Street and Jack Mundey Place where you can grab some delicious food and shop for unique arts, crafts and fashion.

The Rocks is also the perfect place to enjoy a drink or bite to eat at the many cafes, restaurants and pubs. It’s easy to get to The Rocks by bus, ferry or train to Circular Quay or Wynyard.

So grab your family and friends and head to The Rocks for the biggest Australia Day celebration!
