Manly free open air benefit concerts
From Saturday 22 January, Manly Council is providing a huge free programme of exciting, fun, musical, dance and other events for families to contribute to flood disaster relief in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
* Infinite Jazz Connection: 5:00pm – 5:45pm, Saturday 22 January 2011
Featuring some of Australia’s most highly respected and international jazz exports.
* Grover: 5:45pm – 6:30pm, Saturday 22 January 2011
Led by Manly-based Saxophonist, Scott Baulderstone, Grover will have audiences dancing in the street.
* Amali Ward: 6:30pm – 7:15pm, Saturday 22 January 2011
Sydney based pop/soul singer and ‘Australian Idol’ contestant Amali Ward is also widely seen as the face of the ‘Rexona Girl’ campaigns.
* Lionel Robinson: 5pm – 5:45pm, Sunday 23 January
Lionel’s musical career began as the piano player in Elton John’s Covent Garden Restaurant. A very popular performer throughout Australia and overseas, he is based on the Northern Beaches where he is a crowd favourite at the Manly Jazz Festival.
* Jeff Duff: 7pm – 7:45pm, Sunday 23 January
The great Jeff Duff shaped his musical career in England in the ‘70s across a range of genres including angstless punk to the emerging New Wave, tongue-in-cheek reggae to glam rock and even straight-ahead though well bent 50s rock ‘n’ roll. Ever since his hit version of ‘Walk on the Wildside’, Jeff Duff has been a constant on the Australian music scene.
There will also be:
* Face painting from 3pm – 8pm on both Saturday and Sunday
* Additional performances by a variety of artists, including Flamenco Australia Dancers and roving bands, from midday to 2pm Monday, 24 January and Tuesday, 25 January, on The Corso (John Speight Stage), Manly.
Volunteer collectors with buckets will be also seeking donations at Australia Day Celebrations, Manly Town Hall forecourt, corner of Belgrave Street and The Corso, opposite Manly Ferry Wharf, from 8.00am to 11.00am, Wednesday 26 January 2011.

Manly Oval – Twenty/20 match - Manly Sea Eagles vs West Tigers – 28 January 2011
Andrew ‘Joey’ Johns will take the field alongside the Manly Sea Eagles to play the Wests Tigers in a Twenty/20 cricket match at Manly Oval between 4.00pm and 7.00 pm with all funds raised going to the Queensland Flood Relief appeal, with the winning team collecting a ‘Mayor’s Trophy’ presented on the day by Mayor of Manly, Councillor Jean Hay.
Entry for the game will be $10 with children admitted free of charge.
