GOURMET EDIBLE EXPERIENCES RULE THE MENU THIS JUNE IN THE HUNTER VALLEY
This June the Hunter Valley Wine and Food Month will showcase the amazing array of locally grown produce at a number of mouth watering ‘Edible Experiences’ across the Valley. Special events available during the rest of June range from cheese making and pizza making classes to high teas and wine and food matching, ensuring wine and food lovers will have every culinary need fulfilled.
Although the Hunter Valley is renowned for being the oldest wine making region in Australia, it also produces fabulous cheeses, olives and nuts as well as beef cattle, and local game such as duck and squab with several local hatcheries throughout the region. The Hunter Valley is also home to the country’s foremost domestic supply of fresh snails.
Awards winning restaurants throughout the region such as Chez Pok at Peppers Guest House, Margan and Botanica all have their own vegetable and herb gardens ensuring all dishes have a superb local flavour to them.
Rowena Hawkins, Business Development Manager of Hunter Valley Wine Industry Association says, “The Hunter Valley is spoilt for choice when it comes to unforgettable culinary experiences. All of our restaurants and cafes pride themselves on using local produce which is something they will be showcasing throughout June. The mouth watering menu choices matched with the world class Hunter Valley wine makes the region a must visit this month.”
