Rosehill Gardens Racecourse’s Golden Slipper is the richest race in the world for two year old thoroughbreds and the launch party at Opera Point, Sydney Opera House was befitting the status of this major sporting event on the Sydney calendar.  The Golden Slipper from 2010 on will be held on a fixed annual date – that being the first Saturday in April.

As a glittering golden slipper loomed large in the forecourt of Opera Point, a descending sun heralded starter’s orders for this highly anticipated annual party that kicks off the Golden Slipper and Autumn Racing Carnival Festival.

A large and buzzy crowd of stylishly dressed invited ‘racegoers’ went on to celebrate in a setting that is the envy of the world.

Rachael Finch, the 2010 Ambassador for the Sydney Turf Club, shone in a purple one shouldered number as Laura Dundovic glittered gold, while every filly in the place got their style just right – no inappropriate fashions at this do.  Channel 9’s sporting presenter Cameron Williams hosted the event in great form even though he told MiSociety his alarm would ring at 3.00am the following day for his stint on the ‘Today’ program.

No ‘golden’ horse in attendance this year but horses were certainly the major topic of conversation with jockeys, committee members, owners and racing connections amicably discussing prospects for the winner’s circle.  Golden party at a golden venue for a golden racing festival.
