Concert 1: Monday 12 August? Jazz Guitar Recital ?James Sherlock Venue: Wyselaskie Auditorium ?One of Australia’s foremost jazz guitarists, James Sherlock performs improvisations based on original compositions and on works by Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie.
Concert 2: Friday 20 September? Choro to the Max ?Doug de Vries, Ken Murray, Sexteto Zona Sul and Trio Agogo? Venue: Melba Hall A feast of Brazilian guitar music featuring the internationally acclaimed guitarist Doug de Vries and some of Melbourne’s finest choro musicians.
Concert 3: Monday 7 October ?The Intimate Vihuela? John Griffiths? Venue: Wyselaskie Auditorium Since first introducing Australia to the vihuela in the 1970s, John Griffiths has been one of the leaders in the international revival of the instrument, both as a researcher and a performer. Concert 4: Monday 11 November Sonata Daniel McKay Venue: Wyselaskie Auditorium Renowned classical guitarist Daniel McKay performs sonatas by Leo Brouwer, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Phillip Houghton and Domenico Scarlatti.
