The Devil Wears…. just about anything when supporting WSPA at Halloween
Sydney loves Halloween parties and one of the best for 2011 had MiSociety tentatively weaving along the darkened path leading to The Palm House in Sydney’s Botanical Gardens and into a Kaleidoscopic troupe of costumed characters.
Spider webs wafted around candelabras and coffins as unrecognisable ‘Halloweeners’ were gearing up to party. Blood smeared ‘victims’ (including a Jackie Kennedy and a ‘doctor’ unlikely to be on the Medicare list) chummied up with fairies, vampires, cat women, pirates, witches, Santa, Tatu, Elvis and even a well bound ‘mummy’.
Drummers sprang forth from the foliage to then tempt the throng into a light show evolving in the Palm House itself where ‘Jeannie’ had conjured up smoke from her lamp and the DJ pumped out tunes for revellers to dance the night away.
Misia and Paul Duchen this year threw their Halloween bash ‘on shore’ from their harbourside home to raise much needed funds for WSPA.
Halloween in Sydney’s Botanical Gardens was huge fun but most importantly a fundraiser for WSPA, the world wide organisation with the vision of a world where animal welfare matters, and animal cruelty ends. WSPA has been promoting animal welfare for more than 25 years with work concentrated in regions of the world where few, if any, measures exist to protect animals.
Misia Duchen and the WSPA committee were behind ‘The Devil Wears….. Halloween bash that was made possible by some very supportive sponsors many of whom got into the Halloween ‘dress up’ spirit.
The Black and White Waiters, generous supporters of WSPA, managed and themed the whole event and did an absolutely brilliant job of it – big congrats – well done everyone.
