Pyrmont Uncorks the Hunter Valley
As gale force winds buffeted Sydney whipping around the glass encased Astral Bar atop Sydney’s Casino, VIP’s from the Hunter wine district and representatives from Pyrmont’s best eats establishments gathered to swirl, sip and savour. The ‘Hunter’ and ‘Pyrmont’ have aligned to present Sydney with twelve gastronomical events in Pyrmont as part of the 2009 Sydney International Food Festival.
During the festival food and wine buffs (and everyone else) will have the opportunity to ‘Meet the Hunter Valley Winemakers’ at dinners held at Pyrmont’s leading restaurants, a Good Living Growers Market and a spectacular one day outdoor Food & Wine Festival.
The Minister for the Tourism NSW and the Hunter Jodi MacKay infused her usual enthusiasm into the launch night with many well known faces in the crowd entering the ‘guess the wine’ competition. Hearty congrats to newly elected Sydney Council Deputy Mayor, Phillip Black who was in good form as he enthused to us how much he was looking forward to his new position. Lady Sonia was looking relaxed and fit with Paul Judge ‘judging’ the wine comp and Sir James and Lady Hardy catching up with friends.
So readers, get out there and ‘taste some Hunter in Pyrmont’. Nice function – well done!
