THURSDAY 24 | GWILYM SIMCOCK (UK) – SOLO PIANO
Presented in association with RAZ Music, SIMA proudly supports this exclusive Sydney performance by young British pianist/composer Gwilym Simcock, who aged just 29, already has an enviable reputation as one of the UK’s fastest-rising jazz stars.
Acclaimed for his exhilarating and intricate improvisation that sound as if every note on the piano is being played, Simcock has rocketed through jazz education and out into a creative world of his own almost overnight, with critics hailing him as “a young Keith Jarrett in-the-making” (John Kelman, Allaboutjazz, USA) and “A phenomenal talent, Simcock is a jewel in the crown of the country’s jazz scene” (Guardian, UK).
