Kodak Inside Film Awards 2009 night  at Luna Park, Sydney – The Australian People’s Choice Film Awards

The Australian Film Industry’s Big Night in the Big Top
The Kodak Inside Film Awards for 2009 saw many hundreds of film makers, actors and interested parties converge on Sydney’s Luna Park and pack into the Big Top for the presentations to  this years winners.  The 2009 Awards Ceremony was trim, taught and terrific while being televised for SBS.  No wasted time and no ‘silliness’ at this show.  Eddie Perfect did a fabulous job as host and MiSociety would like to source the words for his closing song written especially for the night – it was witty and very funny.  The organisation of the IF Awards from the PR aspect would have to be one of the most professionally run events MiSociety has been to (and as you would know we go to a lot) with full marks going  to Amanda and her great team from 6dc.

The Inside Film Awards are the people’s choice awards, where the movie viewing public vote on who they believe deserves to win the various categories.  Warwick Thorton’s Samson & Delilah scooped the pool taking out six of the top gongs, with Balibo winning for Best Sound and Editing and Mary & Max scoring for Best Production Design.  Full list of winners.  Sadly though still no good comedies on the horizon – couldn’t we all do with a laugh?  Baz Luhrmann was presented with the Kodak Living Legend IF Award.

The 2009 IF Awards were back home again in NSW after a three year stint in QLD and a lot has changed in the Australian film industry in that time (and it certainly needed to).  The ‘old guard’ attendees of years gone by were nowhere to be seen being replaced by a tidal wave of new, up and coming movie makers.

The after party rocked in Luna Park’s Crystal Palace with everyone out to have a good time and celebrate way past midnight.
