Join seven-time World Surfing Champion Layne Beachley and her friends to celebrate the launch of the Aim for the Stars Foundation 2013 Calendar at Manly Art Gallery on 30 August 2012. Proceeds from the calendar will assist the foundation to help girls and women around Australia achieve their dreams through financial grants.

RSVP: 24th August to info@aimforthestars.com.au or 0422 600 733

Guests are invited to this free event to view the stunning photographic exhibits of The Layne Beachley Aim for the Stars Foundation recipients captured by Carol Gibbons of ‘Carol Gibbons Photography’.

After personally experiencing the financial pressures of supporting the early years of her professional surfing career, Ms Beachley decided to establish the foundation to give assistance to women to achieve their ambitions.

“We are all born with the ability to achieve,” she said, “but not all of us have the means. I am proud to be able to support and inspire women from all walks of life to believe in themselves, achieve their goals and fulfil their ambitions”

“My support will give females the opportunity to maintain a determined focus on their goal, to achieve their dreams earlier in life and allow them to further their ambitions and aim for the stars.”

The Foundation assists women with academic, cultural, sporting and community pursuits. The Aim for the Stars offers ambitious and dedicated females an opportunity to reach their goals and realise their dreams.

This year 17 females from around Australia received grants to help them pursue their passion in a range of categories from sport to science and the arts. These include:

Katie Beveridge who is from a small country town and will use the money to create a Young Womens Forum to help other young women reach their own goals.

Carly Finday who has a lifelong skin condition. She will use her grant to help her establish a company so she can start speaking at schools and organisations to teach others the importance of diversity and acceptance and to promote positive body image.

Juliana Bahr, a triathlete who currently works three jobs to support her dream to become professional. She will use her grant to fund some of her training, travel and race costs.
