Love at 1st Sight scores a first in vintage furniture revamping
Lucy Loneragan is morphing ‘vintage’ furniture into kaleidoscopic ‘one off’ pieces incorporating everything from flags of the world, to zebra patterns, to patchwork to a ‘graffititised’ lounge, the work of a street artist too ‘underground’ to disclose.
Miro Kubicek, of ‘Miro House’, the doyen of front of house and red carpet management, is also Lucy’s boyfriend and the organiser of the night. Therefore, it was not surprising that a well selected throng made it up the stairs from the Lo-Fi Bar to the Lo-Fi Collective space at Taylor Square, Darlinghurst for the launch of Lucy’s ‘Love at 1st Sight’ furniture collection.
Mozart and Bach wafted live from the rafters while at the opposite end of this quirky space Dion ‘sculptured’ pieces from an enormous ham that had been home baked by Lucy’s mum. Lucy’s brother Tom, taking a break from his ‘stock trading’ life, showed off his new found bar skills by helping to distribute the English cider and cocktails on offer.
Jason Sullivan, winner of the homeMade TV series, launched the collection which is now available on-line at http://www.loveat1stsight.com.au/
Conveniently, just downstairs in the bar ‘American Honey’, a honey infused Bourbon from the Wild Turkey stable, was heralding the launch of their 2011 blokey calendar and we were beckoned in to continue partying. Here, honeyed cocktails continued to flow till well into the night. Hmm great idea – two parties, one venue – saves heaps on cab fares.
