Wishes on Wharf 5 – a Cruisey Lunch for a Inspirational Cause
Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes for kids who have had life threatening medical adversities. To help with the fundraising for this extremely worthwhile cause P&O Cruises leant their support and made available their liner Pacific Jewel for the afternoon.
We boarded the Pacific Jewel as passengers were dissembarking with new passengers lining up to board. The organisation concerned here was fantastic and full marks to P&O Cruises plus their staff who generously gave their time free of charge on the few hours they had off in Sydney.
The day was a great success with the arial entertainment thrilling and the food delicious. Natalie Barr did a great job MCing with the auctioneer whipping the room into a bidding frenzy.
Having Daniel Berry’s speak of his account of how he ‘Wished’ to see Liverpool play in England and visit London with his family saw many grab for the tissues. Daniel, who has now gone on to become a sporting champion himself, gave us his first hand experience of the work of Make-A-Wish.
The event raised $19,395! This will assist the Foundation continue to grant the wishes of children with a life-threatening illness. The afternoon was both heart warming and inspirational for us and our fellow guests meeting some of the beneficiaries of ‘Wishes’ and how they have helped shape their lives post health travesties.
Should you wish to attend the next event of Make-A-Wish or for someone from the Foundation to be in contact with you, or you would like to be involved in helping to make more magical Wishes come true, please contact a.jackson@makeawish.org.au
