Manly Arts Festival 2011 will be exhibiting the work of 25 emerging and established professional, contemporary artists, as well as writers, designers, musicians and filmmakers, all inspired by the natural beauty of one of Sydney’s most intriguing, remote, yet lovely waterside precincts, Scotland Island and Pittwater’s western foreshore. Pittwater is a protected waterway, the southern arm of Broken Bay at the northern end of Sydney where the Hawkesbury River flows into the Pacific Ocean.
Titled ‘Offshore: Artists of Scotland Island and Pittwater’s Western Foreshore’, the exhibition will be formally launched by television presenter, writer and filmmaker Nell Schofield at the Manly Art Gallery & Museum at 6.00pm on Friday 2 September 2011.
