Manly VIBE brings together the Manly Jazz Festival, Manly Arts Festival, Sydney Chamber Music Festival, Bike Live Festival, wine and food samplings and other family-friendly events.

Manly VIBE is  18 days of music, arts and enjoyment with most events ‘family friendly’. ‘Manly VIBE’ gets going from ‘Manly VIBE’ takes place at scores of outdoor and indoor venues, galleries, art-spaces, theatres, schools, restaurants, cafés, beaches, bike trails and other spaces across the Northern Beaches.

‘Manly VIBE’ will culminate over the Labour Day long weekend (Saturday 29 September – Monday 1 October) with Manly Arts Festival
Things kick off at the Manly Art Gallery & Museum with the 2012 Manly Arts Festival – a key ‘Manly VIBE’ event – to be launched by Midnight Oil founding member, Rob Hirst (Friday 14 September, 6 – 8pm, Manly Art Gallery & Museum, West Esplanade, Manly).

Manly Jazz Festival 2012 – Saturday 29 September – Monday 1 October 2012
Manly Jazz’ – featuring more than 600 Australian and international jazz artists, most performing free to the public.

US-based trumpet player Terell Stafford will headline ‘Manly Jazz’ when he heats up the Oceanfront Stage with his spirited, adventurous melodies, providing a rare opportunity for Manly residents and visitors to see this world-class talent.  Terell has been hailed as “one of the great players of our time, a fabulous trumpet player” by piano legend McCoy Tyner.

Sydney Chamber Music Festival – Friday 21  and Saturday 22 September 2012
Sydney Chamber Music Festival 2012, titled  ‘Just Different’,  kicks off on 21st September. A key event in the Manly Arts Festival, the 5th annual Sydney Chamber Music Festival is a much anticipated music event in the cultural calendar of Sydney and takes place on Friday 21  and Saturday 22 September at the Manly Art Gallery & Museum.

Manly Lantern Parade – Saturday 29 September 2012
‘Manly VIBE’ highlights include the return of The Manly Lantern Parade, a huge success in 2011. Bring lanterns or a mask for a fun, free outdoor family event as Manly’s West Esplanade is transformed. Enjoy live music and watch a light show on the beach. Join the twilight lantern procession through Manly to end again at Manly Cove on Saturday 29 September.

The Great Wall of Manly – Street Art – 14 – 16 September 2012 at 6-8pm,
Long home to surf, skate, music and beach culture – Manly is now home to street art too. Leading artists like Ben Brown, Mia Taninaka and Shannon Crees are coming to paint out loud, right outside Manly Art Gallery & Museum.

Watch a collaborative art wall grow to become … The Great Wall of Manly. From Friday 14 September, 6-8pm, then Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 September then up for the festival.

The Light Painter
Pioneering night photographer Peter Solness will work magic with his ‘light painting’ technique: blurring the line between photography and painting, exposing new ways of viewing familiar Sydney sights at Manly Art Gallery & Museum, West Esplanade, Manly.

Quaranta Australis
Quaranta Australis represents a long collaboration by artists Sue Anderson and Gwen Harrison, whose artists books, prints and mixed media works are responses to two of Sydney’s colonial era sites; the Quarantine Station at North Head and Cockatoo Island.

Festival Face
Photographer Michael Kennedy joins ‘Manly VIBE’ as our roving creative photographer. Shooting detailed and moving portraits in his portable photo booth, recording The Great Wall of Manly in stop motion, or closing in on the Lantern Parade.

Bike Live Festival 2012 – Saturday 15 September – Sunday  23 September 2012
Manly Council is celebrating NSW Bike Week this year (Saturday 15 September – Sunday  23 September) with a series of easy, fun events designed to promote cycling as a healthy, safe and enjoyable activity for ‘normal people’.
