Margaret Olley: Home exhibition is the first to focus on Margaret Olley’s home in Duxford Street, PaddingtonSaturday

  • 10 November 2012 – Monday 1 April 2013
  • Museum of Sydney

Margaret Olley: Home exhibition at Museum of Sydney is of Margaret Olley’s paintings alongside photographs of the interior, objects from her house and reflections from her friends – the exhibition explores her home as inspiration.

To walk into Olley’s home was like walking into a painting. With its fresh paint, rich colours and warm sentiment, the house was a true commemoration of the still-life and interiors tradition in Australian art.

Painted between 1972 and 2011, the artworks in this exhibition reveal the house as a living work of art, while the photographs document the passing years and affirm the aura of the interior spaces.

Margaret Olley: Home is a wonderful insight into one of Australia’s foremost artists – recommended – MiSociety
