Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight
Top entertainers perform a mix of the season’s favourite contemporary and traditional carols is sure to delight the whole family. All proceeds raised from the event go towards assisting children who are blind or have low vision.
Saturday 24 December 2011 – 8-10.45om. Gates open at 4.30pm with pre-show entertainment commencing at 6pm.

Giant Theremin Christmas: A musical Christmas
Let your feet create the beat with the Giant Theremin, a super-sized musical instrument controlled by movement rather than conventional touch. Fun and easy to play. Melbourne electronic music-maker Tim Shiel (aka Faux Pas) has created an irreverent melange of Christmas-themed sounds for you to bring to life during the festive season.

Our Christmas Gift
Our Christmas Gift is a free Christmas concert, sponsored by the Salvation Army, with over two hundred talented performers, featuring Silvie Paladino, Kane Alexander, Daniel Beasy, Wacky Entertainment and the Raymond Sisters supported by bands and choirs of The Salvation Army.

Organ & … Military Band Christmas Organ-ic Lunch
A festive celebration that featuring selections from Handel’s Fireworks Music, Wagner, Sousa, Grainger and Elgar, this lunchtime concert also features a Christmas carol and the premiere of a new work by Andrew Batterham commissioned by City of Melbourne.

Hallelujah, it’s Christmas
Sing your heart out with Music Director Richard Gill, exploring Handel’s Messiah and a range of Christmas carols. The evening consists of learning and rehearsing songs, then performing the repertoire along with Victorian Opera soloists, Charlotte Betts-Dean, Anthony Mackey, Timothy Reynolds and Emily Uhlrich.

Advent Festival
The Advent festival offers the opportunity to side-step the Christmas rush and pause in Melbourne’s culturally rich oasis of Newman College featuring a diverse series of concerts, talks and displays drawing their inspiration from the cycle of eight services celebrated each day in a medieval monastery.

Christmas with the Australian Boys Choir
The boys of the Australian Boys Choir and the men of The Vocal Consort, with Christopher Trikilis at the organ and Noel Ancell conducting, expect to deliver a special experience with their Christmas concerts. There will be cameo appearances by all of the Institute’s training groups and as tradition demands, an opportunity for the audience to sing along.

An Aural Victorian Christmas
A new hearing aid company is celebrating the sounds of Christmas with an ‘Aural Victorian Christmas’ featuring music, a tree and festive fare. Traditional Christmas music will be followed by a light supper. Entry is by gold coin donation for the work of the nearby Bionics Institute to further bionic ear research.
