  • Saturday 29 May 8pm
  • Arts Centre,  Hamer Hall, Melbourne

Katya Grineva, Russian classical pianist now living in New York, will grace Hamer Hall for the first time.

As the only female solo pianist to have played New York’s Carnegie Hall Isaac Stern Auditorium eleven times, Grineva’s musical style has been hailed as “… lyrical… exquisitely refined…” (the Buffalo News).

Katya’s playing has been described as “… liquid, dreamlike…” (The New York Times). She has exclusively performed the rediscovered piano sonatas of Marcel Tyberg, Austrian Composer who perished in the concentration camps in World War II. The audience will hear for the very first time outside of New York, a sampling of Tyberg’s piano sonatas, in addition to her interpretations of Schubert, Liszt, Satie, Bloch, Chopin, Granados, Piazolla and Ravel.
