JLP The Presidents Tequila Mexican Day of the Dead Festival 2012 Launch Party Melbourne photos and story: Renee Stah
25 October 2012
Mexican Day of the Dead. A lively affair.
Mexican Day of the Dead (or Dia De Los Muertos) Festival 2012, was officially launched at St Kilda’s Cellar Bar in the Newmarket Hotel. The event was tastefully styled with ornate shrines of candles and skulls decorated with flowers, to soften the fear they sometimes instill and to offer a hint of what the celebration is really about; the gathering of family and friends to remember their loved ones who have passed.
Ricardo Amare, Melbourne Day of the Dead Festival Director, demonstrated the hospitable nature of Mexican culture as he warmly greeted guests and welcomed them to the festival. Burlesque dancer Sarah Roberts and DJs Juliet Fox and Lauren Mac entertained guests, who enjoyed sipping on JLP Tequila cocktails whilst admiring the costumes and makeup of those who got into the spirit of the festivities and dressed the part.
JLP Tequila combined with fresh flowers and bones, candles that lit up the dim room and sexy entertainment, presented an ambience of glamour and intrigue that one might only expect to find in an underground bar in Mexico.
Mexican Day of the Dead launch party 2012 was the beginning of a week long festival of art exhibitions, music, Mexican food and culture that are not to be missed. Andale!
