Sydney’s MCA launches their Spring 2010 Exhibitions
The Museum of Contemporary Art hosted a launch evening for it’s Spring line-up of exhibitions; In the Balance – Art for a Changing World; Primavera 2010 and Runa Islam, all components of the Museum’s Spring 2010 program of exhibitions and events.
Artists over the centuries have tried to propagate change through their art and the 30 artists and artists collectives participating at the MCA with environmentally themed works, both inside and outside the Museum, are no exception.
Peter Cundall, environmental activist and ABC Television’s most renowned celebrity gardener, received thunderous applause from the hundreds of attendees. Peter’s typically forthright speech warned of the need for change if the world is to be saved from environmental disaster.
Exhibition opening nights at the MCA always draw a crowd genuinely eager to view the art on display and engage in relaxed chat over drinks about the work they have viewed and this night proved no exception.
