The all-singing sibling of Short+Sweet (the world’s biggest little play festival) returns for a third exciting year. Catch 10 of the best new 10-minute musical theatre works from around Australia and the world – all in one night. Plus more ‘out-there’ pieces in the one-off wild-card showcase.

Last year saw everything from dancing junk food villains to singing penises. This year there’s even more surprises from the – ahem – members of the company!

Some of  Australia ’s hottest musical theatre stars and some of our brightest new talents come together to take you on a journey around the musical theatre world. Love, loss and mini golf. From rock to opera. From serious drama to seriously funny. From weight loss to Imelda Marcos’ shoes! And all in just 10 minutes each.

One of the stars of last year’s Short Sweet+Song Andrew Threlfall (Little Shop of Horrors, Hats Off, BOYBAND) takes the helm as festival director in 2009. Musical director is Nigel Ubrihien (Friends of Barbra, Beaconsfield the Musical, Lucky Stiff, Lion King)

Featured stars this year include James Millar (Jerry Springer, Wittenberg ), Monique Montez (Dusty, We Will Rock You), Jodie Harris (Little Women, The Hatpin), Mitchell Winter (Miss Saigon, Boyband) and Kate Parry (Shout, Annie). Composers include Michael Gordon Shapiro whose hilarious “Blenderman” stole the show (and the awards!) in 2008.

The next Great Australian Musical may well be born at this fabulous event.
