Music lovers won’t want to miss the second series of Sydney Chamber Music Festival matinée master-classes for string ensembles (Kirsten Williams, violin and Susan Blake, cello) at Manly Art Gallery & Museum, also soprano and piano for lieder, chansons and art song (Taryn Fiebig, soprano and David Miller, piano) at Manly’s Star of the Sea Theatre (10.30am – 1.30pm, Saturday 19 September); followed the next day by classes for continuo/early music ensembles (Shalev Ad-El, harpsichord/conductor) at Star of the Sea Theatre (10.00am – 1.00pm, Sunday 20 September).
Audience admission to the master-class is free, as part of the 2009 Manly Arts Festival.
This will be followed by a stunning Sydney Chamber Music Festival evening performance of works by Alessandro Scarlatti, Georg Philipp Telemann and Johann Sebastian Bach (Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 September. Talk 5pm, Concert 6 – 8:15pm).
The gala evening performance is $35 and $25 concessions (or $55 and $40 concessions for two nights).
The 2009 Manly Arts Festival will be taking place between 12 and 27 September 2009, when Manly’s galleries, art-spaces, theatre, piazzas, walkways, and cafés will be transformed to celebrate the area’s creativity and artistic diversity.
The Manly Arts Festival attracts over 15,000 visitors each year.
Many of the events are open and free to the public but the program also includes a number of prestige events ranging in admission price.
The Manly Arts Festival offers a smorgasbord of more than 60 bright, exciting events – ranging from exhibitions and theatre productions, to dance performances and films and literary events.
All age groups have been catered for at the festival with a number of special events and workshops aimed specifically at the youth and kids.
