SPRING RHAPSODY
The Sydney Town Hall saw a sell out concert on the 28 April and the Sydney Youth Orchestras is again ready to bring the Sydney Town Hall to life with the beautiful sounds of Spring Rhapsody.

Spring Rhapsody is full of colour and energy, with the pounding drama of Liszt’s Mazeppa and the infectious dance rhythms of Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody.

Palmer’s new Concerto for Flute, Clarinet and Orchestra, commissioned by Ars Musica Australia for Emma Sholl, associate principal flute Sydney Symphony Orchestra, her brother, Richard Sholl, associate principal clarinet, Orchestra Victoria.

Emma Sholl began working with SSO at age 19 and was appointed second flute the following year, making her one of the youngest musicians ever awarded a position with SSO.  In 1997 she was the 2MBS Player of the Year, in 1999 she won the National Orchestral Flute Competition, in 2001 Emma won the Symphony Australia Young Performers Award Other Instruments category and in 2002 she won the National Solo Flute Competition.  Emma has performed as guest principal flute with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, Australian Ballet and Opera Orchestras and Australian Chamber Orchestra.

Richard Sholl is the associate principal clarinet of Orchestra Victoria.

Spring Rhapsody is under the Baton of SYO’s Artistic Director, Max McBride.

Max McBride is one of the most widely respected musicians in Australia today, having found success on the concert stage and as an educator.   After two study leaves in Austria studying with world renowned Ludwig Streicher and conducting with Otmar Suitner he returned to Australia in 1979 to take up the position of Principal Double Bass with the Australian Chamber Orchestras and was the regular bass player of the Australia Ensemble.

Spring Rhapsody is the perfect way to spend an enchanting evening with a group of friends and or family. Also, it is a fantastic concert to bring your children to we guarantee they will be mesmerized.
