New Year’s Eve at Fed Square 2010 – welcome in 2011
Fed Square, Melbourne’s favourite spot for New Year’s Eve celebrations, will beat to the sound of 500 drums with a FREE program of reggae, funk and classic tracks made for dancing.
The party starts at 8pm with Melbourne five-piece, Tumbarumba whose sizzling fusion of samba, reggae, funk and Brazilian beats have seen them share a stage with the likes of Paul Kelly, Clare Bowditch and Blue King Brown.
The fun continues from 8.30pm when Funk Junk take over the stage with a high-energy drumming set with 500 drums and percussion instruments distributed to the crowd for a live jam session!

This New Year’s Eve, the City of Melbourne is presenting two fireworks displays, the first starting at the family-friendly time of 9.15pm.
Fireworks will launch into the skies above Yarra Park surrounding the MCG, creating a stunning and beautiful display. Sit back, look up and be captivated by a magnificent show of brilliant colour, sparkling lights, thrilling explosions and squeals of delight.
As the clock winds down, the Hit Parade will rock the stage with everybody’s favourite party tracks with everything from Michael Jackson and Robbie Williams to Rihanna and Kings of Leon.
At midnight fireworks will erupt from the rooftops at Fed Square, making it one of the best spots to enjoy the city’s breathtaking fireworks display.
The Main Square is an alcohol and glass-free zone to ensure safe celebrations, but for visitors wanting to see the New Year in over a glass of bubbles or a cocktail, there are a huge range of restaurants and bars located throughout the Square.
