The 2009 NRL season was spectacularly kicked off from a great height in Sydney’s Domain last week
The guest list of 400 included team captains and players, Club Executives, Club Members, celebrities and other fanatical footy fans. Invited guests were joined by celebrity fans such as Andrew O’Keefe, Charlotte Gregg, Susie Rugg, Kelly Connolly and some of Channel Nine’s Today Show cast.
The new 2009 advertising campaign was set to Australian Idol winner Wes Carr’s song “Feels like Whoa” which was filmed to the footy lovers and followed by a live performance of Wes’ song.
Johnathan Thurston officially launched the season by kicking a football from Sydney’s Centrepoint Tower Skywalk. A last minute gust of wind caused Jonathan to hastilly grab onto the railing for balance. There were gasps and breaths were held for a moment as he gained his balance 260 metres above the ground – it could have made for an interesting start to the 2009 footy season if not for a safety harness.Share
