NSW Country apprentice chefs serve it up to their city counterparts to take out the 2010 NSW title
The second annual NSW City Vs Country Apprentice Chef Challenge was hosted by J&J O’Brien Hoteliers Group and 2009 Australian Hoteliers Association’s Chef of the Year, Daniel Fountain at Jordan’s, Darling Harbour. The challenge for each team was to cook four courses; canapés, entrée, main course and dessert. Reminiscent of Masterchef each team was given a mystery box of ingredients and was given free reign to create their own menu.
Judges Andy Ball, Executive Head Chef of Bel Mondo Restaurant, Gabrielle and Matthew Moss from “My Kitchen Rules” on Channel 7 and Paul Rifkin, Executive Head Chef of Campbelltown Catholic Club who also hosts a weekly radio segment on 2GB had the tough job of deciding the winners.
Families of the country apprentice chefs travelled to Sydney joining media and friends to sample the gastronomical outcomes of the challenge. Congratulations to all these terrific and very passionate future chefs - your dishes were excellent and we enjoyed the whole experience.
