NYE 2009/10 – 89th Floor Eureka Tower Melbourne

Happy New Year from the top of the Southern Hemmisphere
MiSociety saw in the New Year at a party held in the highest land based spot in the Southern Hemisphere - the 89th Floor of the Eureka Tower in Melbourne. Looking down on the fireworks that engulfed Melbourne while nature provided an even bigger light show in the form of a spectacular thunderstorm was quite something. Nature also added in a blue moon for the night. New Year’s Eve blue moons are rare, occurring only every 19 years with the next one not due till 2028.
After being chauffered to Melbourne’s iconic building by limousine, the drinks flowed, mountains of food made it’s way around the glass encased top floor while the clock ticked down to a new decade as the party got into full swing – what a way to see in the ‘tennies’. In the wee small hours we reluctantly (and slightly unsteadily) made our way out of the building (the lift is amazing) and stepped back into our limo for a very fun ride home after a night we will never forget.
