Odmafair, the eyewear industry’s major trade fair hit Sydney this week for three days at the Sydney Exhibition Centre.
Safeguarded by some rather dubious looking security and to the tunes of The Piano Man, Hula Dancers gyrated, a clown made us laugh, Elvis Elves (we think) did whatever it was they were doing and ‘Ball on a String’ well, stringed..
Eyewear is big business and participants came from all over the country to buy and sell the latest in frames, lenses and associated technology and to just be at all the fun of the fair.
As any fashionista will tell you the right eyewear is imperative in today’s clamber for what’s newest and hottest and this was the event that sets the trends in Australia for the coming year.
For sunnies the ‘eighties’ style big white or beige frames were everywhere but so were classy jewel encrusted numbers, black ‘plastics’.and, as always. ‘aviators’ for both males and females.
Prescription lens frames are now too diverse to cover here but it’s all about the ‘side arms’. From the ‘timber’ look for men to intricate feminine designs, to ‘art’ numbers to bold ‘Italian’ inspired ‘statements’.
One thing for sure, those involved in helping us to view the world in clarity are a great bunch who also like to party with ‘do’s’ all over Sydney from high end exclusives, to quirky, to knees up good time events.
