New Zealand beats Australia in Jaguar Test Match
Polo just keeps growing with a massive crowd attending the Windsor Polo Club grounds for the Australia VS New Zealand test match at Richmond.
‘Chokka’ company sponsored marquees lined one side of the full size field while picnickers spread around the other. The traditional ‘divot stomping’ had the throngs covering the field with most not appearing not to know what they were there for – didn’t matter – all good fun.
Frilly fillies partied along with their more casual country cousins in the relaxed rural scene that was bathed in brilliant sunshine.
The main game was one very exciting game of Polo even though New Zealand took out the test match beating Australia 9 -8 in the 7th chukka. With the score at 8-8, the crowd were on their feet yelling and cheering when New Zealand were awarded a penalty and Sam Hopkinson scored the tie breaker.
At the conclusion of the match, Sinclair Hill presented the Sinclair Hill Trophy for the first time. Sinclair purchased the trophy jug, on a trip to Argentina last year. He has donated it to the NSW Polo Association and Australian Polo Council for the trophy to be played for in annual Test Matches ‘off the stick’.
