Hats off to Peter Gilmore’s Cookbook - ’Quay’
Peter Gilmore’s book ’Quay’ – Food Inspired by Nature, comes as no surprise. Sydney’s Superstar chef has created a cookbook containing recipes from the three hatted restaurant ‘Quay’ in Sydney and plated them up alongside stunning photography.
What was surprising for us at the launch of this beautifully produced coffee table addition was that the launch party at Quay was such a family and friends affair with just a sprinkling of media that primarily fell within the ‘friends’ category.
John and Leon Fink, owners of Quay Restaurant, were both overjoyed with this new high end edition set to whet the increasingly sophisticated appetite of Australians for all things gastronomical.
Peter and Kath’s parents, who described themselves as ‘the babysitters’, were all there to for the celebrations. An amusing aside was when Kath’s mum, Leila, noticed a guest that didn’t appear to belong. With the assistance of Peter’s mum, Dawn, they ‘accosted’ the intruder and demanded to know who he was. The ‘intruder’ was no match for the two determined mums and beat a very hasty retreat.
Quay Restaurant is stunning and the canapes this night were naturally brilliant and went very well indeed with the Bollinger – Absolutely Fabulous!
