Micheline Van Hautem with Erwin Van Ligten on Guitar – “La Musique of Jacques Brel”

  • Friday 15 April 2011 at 7.30pm

Edinburgh Festival award winner, Micheline Van Hautem has played to critical acclaim around the world. Renowned for her spell binding stage presence and emotional expression, Van Hautem inhabits the poetry and passion of Brel’s music singing in French, Flemish and English.  Van Hautem inhabits each of the songs rather than just performs them.
“The energy with which Micheline Van Hautem brings to life Brel’s music is extraordinary. Her guitarist. Erwin Van Ligten is a talented musician and together they make a dynamic duo. This is certain to be a concert not to be missed,” said Director of Riverside Theatres, Robert Love.
Micheline Van Hautem has played to packed houses at the Edinburgh Festival – winning a prestigious Herald Angel Award, Sydney Opera House, two sell out seasons at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival and in 2009 completed a 60 date European tour with Jacques nephew, and keeper of the Brel flame, Bruno Brel.
Behold this Belgian chanteuse, whether in French, English or Dutch she communicates with a livid sensual force that has the listener transfixed.
