Feast Magazine Dishes Up a Night of Real Food, Real People and Real Fun
Feast, is a new foodie magazine born from the collaboration between SBS and Pacific Magazines. To launch ‘Feast’, the Cell Block Theatre at the National Art School in Sydney was transformed into a colourful and bustling market bazaar with offerings of authentic cuisine from around the world.
Pizza Party boys, adorned with ‘Adonis’ aprons, waved the Italian flag alongside ‘Ozzies’ Mediterranean Foods competing with Vietnamese from ‘Headcase’ whose other offering was a huge table weighed down by Lebanese pastries and international desserts. Outside in the lantern lit courtyard Nick’s Meats was carving off slices from a spit roasting lamb.
The best bit was not only could we sample all this marvellous fare immediately, but we were given bags to just ‘fill ‘em up’ with what ever took our fancy from the gourmet heaven around us – this offer also included full size bottles of Athenian Ouzo ‘12’.
This party had all the essential ingredients. Belly Dancers whirled and ethnic musicians took turns at their craft expanding the night market into a feast of fun. The enthusiatic and friendly people from SBS and Pacific Magazines, along with the ‘foodnoscenti’ present, relaxed and celebrated the publication of the inaugural edition of this monthly magazine.
‘Feast’ Magazine is not just another food magazine. ‘Feast’ is a compendium of stories about genuine people from the four corners of the earth who have made Australia their home and who wish to share the importance of their individual and authentic food cultures. The philosophy behind ‘Feast’ is ‘Experiencing Life Through Food’ – real food and real people not just ‘reality food’.
MiSociety has digested our advance copy of ‘Feast’ and yes Australia, it is a real feast of educational, engaging and explorative articles served up alongside recipes originating from around the globe. Feast Magazine will be available through supermarkets nationally, selected newsagencies and retailers with a cover price of $6.50.
