Viking Adventure at the Maritime Museum. We’ve got a full program of Viking activities for all the family from 27 December 2013  What’s on for Mum’s and Dad’s at the Australian Maritime Museum

Viking adventure this summer

This summer, pack your shield and helmet, and join us for a Viking Adventure at the Maritime Museum. Full program of Viking activities for all the family from 27 December 2013

We’re also opening two new temporary exhibitions, Persuasion and Mission X, and offering you the chance to take a fascinating behind the scenes tour of the museum.

$13 all day parking at Harbourside Secure Parking when you visit the museum. Just validate your parking ticket at the ticket desk.

The Truth About Vikings

Daily, except Mondays, ay 10.30am, 12.30pm & 2.30pm. 20 minutes duration.

 Viking WetWorld
Friday 27 December – Sunday 2 February | Daily between 10am & 5pm

Cool off in our water adventure playground WetWorld. Big kids can battle it out through a maze of Viking forts with the latest supersoakers while the littlies can immerse themselves in interactive waterplay and toy boat racing. Look out for our very own sea serpent Jormungand hiding beyond the water-mist!

For ages: 2-12 years

Kids On Deck: Viking Village
Open from 1 December
Holiday program begins Friday 27 December – Monday 27 January | 10am – 4pm (hourly sessions)

Journey back in time to learn about life in a Viking Village in Kids On Deck. Learn to write your name in runes, make your own Viking jewellery, a model longship or get armoured-up with your very own Viking helmet. Dress up in Viking costume, play Viking chess or a game of KUBB and step inside a Viking inspired longhouse.

For ages: 5-12 years
Cost: $8.50 per child, FREE members/Big Ticket. Adults general museum fees apply

 Vikings – Beyond the legend

This blockbuster exhibition continues through December, drawing on recent archaeological discoveries and nearly 500 rare artefacts to shed new light on the Viking way of life while challenging stereotypes of Vikings as ferocious, plundering pagans in horned helmets.
